Note to self..

Note to self: when you have your second and final child, breast feed, or exclusively pump! I will not listen to my mother, who berated me not only in the hospital, but in my own home. While I don't have issue with those who formula feed, I was just pushed off of it due to stress of reflux and an insane mother. Just being so tired after Emma arrived, I couldn't deal with anything.

Emma just moved onto a "normal" formula and off of the hypoallergenic formula. I am getting twice the amount of formula with Nestle Good Start, than I did with Nutramigen and it costs so much less. Breast milk is free. Yes, I've become frugal since becoming a mother.

The Air Conditioner wars have started!!!

Game on... When have I EVER been passive? Never, but for some reason I put up with going to sleep without the airconditioner on. This morning I woke up covered in sweat. My knees were literally sweating. I don't get it. In the winter, we turn the heat down to nothing and its freezing. During the summer, the AC goes off and its too hot. Even Emma prefers to sleep in a cooler room.
Tonight, the gauntlet will be thrown, and I WILL have AC on. He can just wear his winter jim jams if he's too cold.

Sunday is pretty boring. I'm not a fan of weekends in the summer... I'm off all week anyway, and its too hot outside. I'm not one to sit and bake in the sun at the pool, and Emma gets grumpy when its too warm for her. She's like her mum that way! So, what does a girl do on a Sunday? Laundry, photos, and watching the many Egypt shows on the Discovery channel..

Why don't I look like the chick in the commercials - the "after" part. I still look like I walked through a hurricane most days! I really really need to have something done with my hair, but I'm still recovering (with 2 restoration hair cuts) from that horrible cut I had back in February.

reflux sux

Life with reflux can be a daunting experience for any adult, but for a baby its horrible. Luckily, we caught Emma's reflux pretty early on and that seems to be well under control, minus a few spits here and there. The pic was when I was fooling around taking some self pics of Emma and I... I had no idea she was doing this when I shot it. I'd have never taken the pic!

Whilst the reflux is getting better, we were hoping to take her off the Nutramigen (hypoallergenic formula - very expensive). I slowly started to switch her over to soy, and she hated the taste. She made the same face that she had when she tried bananas for the first time. Anyway, after she got over the taste, she would scream about 30 minutes after eating it. So, back to square one. boo hiss. The funny thing is, that she never ever screamed when she did take the regular formula, before we switched over to the nutramigen. She just spit it ALL up! Oh well.

Who loves her cereal???

We got the "okay" from the pediatrician to give emma a little cereal. I've been putting it in her bottles, which she loves, but boy does she ever love eating it off the spoon! They make it with banana flavoring, but that has been sold out everywhere I look.
I am really hoping that on Tuesday, she will be off the Nutramigen formula.

1) I was a big baby! over 9lbs. I totally expected Emma to be that big
2) I love to go to bed by 11pm at the latest. This is a hard thing now that my little one has been going to bed well past midnight.
3) I HATE the heat. Well really the humidity. John and I have the AC arguement all the time.
4) I am a forum addict! Right now its my mommy board, but in the past it was the immigration forum I was quite regular at.
5) I love homemade rice crispy treats too (thanks for reminding me Katie)... but I don't make them. I have to hope that somewhere, sometime, someone will make them. If bakesales weren't "illegal" at my school, then I'd be in heaven!
6) I wish John would make his fried chicken for me. I think its my favorite "John" meal.. no.. that rice and beef dish he makes is my favorite..
7) I can't cook real food
8) I'm a good baker (when I feel like it)
9) I hate my neighbors
10) I want another baby in the not to distant future.. what am I thinking?

A year ago today

I can't believe it has been a year since I got my positive pregnancy test. Time flies.
In other news, Miss Emma has figured out how to turn on her side. She did it this morning in her crib, and started to scream because she didn't know what was happening. too funny.
